Activities are run by the local Family Worker and support worker, and take the form of informal sessions at The Bungalow, where child and parent learn to play together using creative activities allowing quality bonding time, through to a more formal activities such as an outing to a bird park or an open farm. The aim of the project is to encourage bonding and understanding between child and parent. Results have been highly positive and the project has improved the lives of the children being supported through the funding. Thank you to Local Network Fund! Calling all Thespians!
The Farncombe Drama Project is keen to recruit local residents to take part in an interesting series of talks, workshops, dramatic activities and craft sessions. The project has been awarded approx. £6000 from Global Grants and will be offering fun activities such as stage make up, costume design, drama games & sketches, computer sessions and advice on arts management careers. The group meets on Thursday mornings from 11:30am at Saint John's Church Hall, Farncombe. Membership is completely free and open to all Farncombe and Binscombe residents. This project is supported by the Community Learning Adviser who acts as a mentor to the project leader. The Waverley CLP also funded the launch of this project "Winter Wonderland", which took place in January 2006. The SMART Team
SMART (Saint Mark's Active Residents Team) meets weekly to learn about child development, childcare and fair play, child protection and related issues. Through a partnership between Waverley CLP and Adult & Community Learning these sessions have been provided with free childcare, thus removing a major barrier to learning. Neighbourhood GardenersBoth Waverley and Guildford Community Learning Partnerships have worked to help establish a South West Surrey Branch of the BBC Neighbourhood Gardeners scheme. This is just beginning, and aims to help people access horticultural and volunteering qualifications, and to share their knowledge and experience through taking part in environmental and landscape-based community projects.
